A 44-year-old St George’s man, who struck a low wall before continuing on to an area of grass near the roadside where he struck a metal post, is today listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Police and first responders attended the scene of the single vehicle rental scooter crash on Wellington Slip Road in St George’s around 10:50pm Sunday, June 24.

A spokesman said: “The 44-year-old man sustained a serious leg injury and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“At last check this morning (June 25th) he was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

“The rental scooter involved has been impounded as inquiries continue.”  

Witnesses or persons with relevant information that have not already come forward are asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.

And the 66-year-old male pedal cyclist who rode into the path of an oncoming motorcycle in Devonshire, remains listed in critical condition in ICU.

The man, believed to be from Devonshire, sustained serious head injuries in the accident which around 11:50pm Saturday, June 23rd on Middle Road in Devonshire, near the junction with Vesey Street.

The 46-year-old male motorcyclist, believed to be from Hamilton Parish was said to be recovering in stable condition on a general ward with non-life threatening leg injuries.

The pedal cycle and motorcycle involved were impounded following the collision.
