Sadly, Bermuda recorded another road traffic fatality last night that claimed the young life of a 24-year-old man, who died following a two-vehicle collision on Middle Road in Sandys.

Police say the fatal crash occurred around 6pm (Dec 13), near the junction with Overplus Lane, on a stretch of road area residents would know has claimed several lives over the years.

Shortly after the accident, a police spokesman said: “Initial information suggests that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the male motorcar driver was attempting to negotiate a right hand turn onto Overplus Lane, and the male motorcyclist was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the collision occurred.

“The motorcyclist was conveyed to KEMH for treatment of injuries that have only been described as serious.

“The male motorcar driver received minor abrasions, that did not require medical attention,” he added.

Sadly, the young man was pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

His death marks the tenth road death to date, this year.
