The Bermuda Police Service has confirmed the death of 38-year-old Kerry Petty who was killed in an early morning collision with a car being driven by another woman who was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
A police spokesman said: “Ms Petty was seriously injured when the motorcycle she was riding was involved in a collision with a car on Middle Road in Southampton in the area of Five Star Island around 5:48am this morning (September 28th).
“She was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but sadly, later pronounced dead.
“A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist Ms Petty’s family at this difficult time,” he added, while extending condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
The 30-year-old woman driving the car involved, believed to be from Warwick, who was arrested shortly after the fatal accident on suspicion of impaired driving, has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the eleventh road traffic fatality recorded on Bermuda’s roads this year continues.
