Police are investigating what is now the fourth car fire in recent weeks, this time on New Year’s Eve in Devonshire.
A police spokesman said this latest investigation is still “in its early stages”. But he said: “Foul play has not been ruled out.
The incident occurred shortly after 10pm on Thursday, December 31st in the area of Roberts Avenue and Derwent Lane in Pembroke.
“Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle engulfed. The investigation into this matter, led by officers from the Criminal Investigations Unit, is in its early stages, but foul play has not been ruled out,” the spokesman added.
“There has been heightened police visibility in the area, to provide reassurance to residents. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call 211 or, the main police number 295-0011.”
Between December 13 up to today, there have been four car fires – two in St George’s on December 13th and 15th, and another truck fire in Pembroke on December 14th.
