A 20-year-old female motorcyclist is today in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit with a serious head injury sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday (April 27).
Police say the accident occurred around 6:35pm near the junction of Verdmont Road and Middle Road Smiths.
A spokesman said: “Reports are the driver of a truck was attempting to turn off of Verdmont Road headed east on Middle Road, when the vehicle was struck by a bike, headed west on Middle Road.
“She was transported via ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and is now warded in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
“The truck driver was uninjured.
“The roadway was closed for a period as the scene was processed by Traffic Collision Investigators and officers from the Forensic Support Unit,” he added.
“Anyone with information on this incident, is asked to call 295-0011.”
