The latest round of roadside sobriety checkpoints landed eight motorists under arrest on suspicion of impaired driving over the weekend, in seven parishes.
A police spokesman said: “Members of the public socialising at staff Christmas parties or festive events with family and friends are reminded to carefully consider their options to get home safely.
“If you intend on consuming alcohol at get-togethers this holiday season – please, do not make the mistake of driving whilst impaired. Poor choices can have long term ramifications,” he added.
“While there are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend, members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence as police officers conducting their regular patrols will be on the lookout for any offences, including impaired driving.”
