Police and first responders dashed to a report of an unresponsive elderly man floating in waters off Dockyard around 11am this morning.
“The man, believed to be an 80-year-old cruise ship visitor, was apparently snorkelling with a tour group at the time,” said a police spokesman.
“The senior citizen was retrieved from the water, given CPR and rushed via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where sadly, he was later pronounced dead.”
Identification of the deceased will be released in due course, pending notification of next of kin. The spokesman also noted that there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances involved.
