Police Confirm Sudden Death of American Visitor Yvonne Aites

The Bermuda Police Service has confirmed the death of 62-year-old American cruise ship visitor Yvonne Aites, who died after she fell off a Jet Ski yesterday in waters off Cambridge Beaches in Sandys.

Ms Aites, from Massachusetts, was apparently on a Jet Ski tour off Dockyard when the incident occurred and she became unconscious.

A police spokesman said: “Despite lifesaving efforts on the water which continued as she was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial hospital via ambulance, Ms. Aites was later pronounced dead.

“A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the deceased’s loved ones at this difficult time.

“An autopsy has been completed and the results confirm the cause of death as drowning.”

He also extended sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased on behalf of the Bermuda Police Service.
