Police today confirmed the death of 69-year-old Frank D’Angelo, of California, who was snorkelling in a cove at Horseshoe Bay when he became unresponsive last Thursday.

While extending condolences to his family and friends, a police spokesman said: “The unconscious American visitor was brought to shore by members of the public where CPR  was commenced.

“Lifesaving efforts continued while Mr D’Angelo was being rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but sadly, he was later pronounced dead.

“A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the deceased’s family and although foul play is not suspected, an autopsy is anticipated.”
