The Bermuda Police Service has confirmed the death of 49-year-old American visitor Mrs Jamie Kopp, who tragically lost her life while vacationing in Bermuda, riding a livery cycle that collided with a water truck on Thursday, September 5.

The fatal accident occurred around 1:45pm.

A spokesman said: “Mrs Kopp and her husband were riding separate rental scooters west along North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish near the junction with Cottage Hill Road – with Mrs Kopp traveling behind her husband – when she was involved in a collision with a water truck being driven in the opposite direction.

“Mrs Kopp was seriously injured and despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, which continued as she was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, her death was later certified at the hospital.

Mrs. Kopp’s husband and the water truck driver were not hurt.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist Mrs. Kopp’s loved ones at this difficult time.”

He also extended “sincere condolences to her husband, family and friends” on behalf of the Bermuda Police Service.
