Police today confirmed the death of 18-year-old Jen-Naya Simmons, who sadly lost her life following an early morning fatal road crash on Sunday morning.

Ms Simmons succumbed to injuries after she lost control of her motorcycle on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish around 3:29am on Sunday.

Attending officers arrived at the scene to find EMT’s performing CPR. The victim was later pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Her death marks the seventh road traffic fatality recorded on Bermuda’s roads this year.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the family in their time of loss.

A police spokesman also extended sincere condolences on behalf of the Bermuda Police Service to the family and friends of the deceased.

Meanwhile, Bermuda Road Safety Council Chairman, Dennis Lister III while extending condolences as well, said today: “Any life lost is a life too many.

“The Road Safety Council will continue to work hard to implement the Government road safety plan Operation Caution, encouraging timely conversation and action around creating safer roads for a safer Bermuda,” he added.

Witnesses to the accident are urged to contact police to assist with the investigation.
