The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) has confirmed that a package was seized at a local courier service this week reportedly containing semi-automatic guns and ammunition.

Pictures were circulated via social media shortly after the discovery, which is now the subject of a police investigation.

A police spokesman confirmed that “a firearm component was detected and seized on the compound of a courier company on Friday, June 12”.

The package was detected by officers at HMS Customs, who alerted officers from the Serious Crime Division, who are now heading up the investigation as inquiries continue.
