Gunshots heard by area residents who live near Elliot Primary School in Devonshire, were later confirmed by the Commissioner of Police.

Police responded to a report of shots heard near the school around 4pm yesterday (April 5) and initially found no sighs at the scene that a firearms incident occurred.

“While officers were at the scene, they heard what were believed to be more gunshots to the east of the school,” he said.

“Officers suspected the gunshots may have been coming from the nearby trap and skeet shooting range,” he added.

Police later confirmed that the range was active and was where the shots came from.

The Bermuda Police Service also thanked the public for bringing the incident to their attention quickly and allowing officers to properly address it.
