Police have confirmed the death of 30-year-old Dejon Simmons, who succumbed to serious head injuries sustained during an altercation on Front Street early Sunday morning.

Chief Inspector Na’imah Astwood extended sincere condolences on behalf of the Bermuda Police Service to his family and friends.

The incident occurred around 3:15am on March 18th, outside the Cosmopolitan Nightclub.

The 25-year-old man arrested in connection with this matter and detained, has since been released on police bail.

Simmons was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, where he remained in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit until his death Wednesday morning.

An overseas forensic pathologist is currently in Bermuda and will perform an autopsy.

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses who were in the Front Street area near Cosmopolitan Nightclub at the time of the altercation to come forward.

“We are especially interested in anyone who may have images or video footage of the incident,” said Ms Astwood.
