The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) today confirmed another shooting incident in the Court Street overnight that left a 27-year-old man in hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Police say the incident occurred around 1:15am when officers responded to reports of gunshots in the Dundonal Street and Court Street area.
“Initial investigations revealed that a firearm had been discharged and the scene was forensically processed,” the spokesman said.
“A short time later, a 27-year-old man attended the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of a gunshot injury, which is not considered to be life threatening.
“It is now confirmed the two incidents are connected.”
In a statement released shortly after 11am today, Detective Chief Inspector Peter Stableford, of the Serious Crime Unit, appealed to anyone “in the Court Street area around the time of this incident”, or anyone who “may have information about it”, to contact the police.
“Whomever is responsible, had to get ready somewhere and you could have information vital to the investigation,” he said.
Police are “particularly interested” in speaking to anyone who saw two people on a motorcycle on Dundonald Street at about 1.15am.
“We urge anyone out driving a vehicle with a dashboard camera or who lives in the area and may have CCTV recordings, to check their footage from between 1am and 1.30am today,” he added.
Anyone with information or footage can call the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739, the main police number on 211 or the confidential Crime Stoppers number – 800-8477.
