News Release: Hamilton, Bermuda – The Bermuda Police Service has been made aware that confidential information about an ongoing investigation is now being circulated on social media.
We ask that should you receive this information, you do not forward it on and that you instead delete it. The post highlights an individual’s personal information,” the police said. “How would you feel if that were information about you, a relative or loved one?
Addressing the situation Police Commissioner Stephen Corbishley stated: “An internal investigation has been launched into how this information found its way into the public domain.
“Upon learning of this development, an immediate review of our internal processes was commenced. I cannot underestimate the seriousness of this action both in regards to the safety of the victim as well as other parties.
“It also undermines our investigation alongside a host of other issues regarding codes of conduct, not to mention the erosion of public confidence in the Bermuda Police Service, that could potentially arise as a result. We are diligently working to ensure there is no repeat of this situation.”
