Police busted up a large party of more than 100 people shortly before 11pm last night (March 5) following anonymous calls that it was going on at the Botanical Gardens.
Officers attended the Horticultural Hall and “reported there were in excess of 100 persons at the event”.
“No one was wearing masks and there was no social distancing,” a spokesman said.
“Based on the number of persons at the location and the reported breaches, several police units were dispatched to assist.”
But the “organiser of the event could not be located among the crowd and no one was willing to assist police with their inquiries”.
“However, the details of several vehicles which began leaving the scene as police arrived, were recorded.
“The public is reminded, under the current COVID regulations, gatherings are limited to a maximum of 25 people,” the spokesman added.
“In order to hold an event or gathering larger than the permitted maximum of 25 persons, an exemption from the Minister of National Security is required.”
