A 26-year-old man sadly succumbed to injuries sustained in a serious road traffic accident on Christmas Day 2021, marking the 17th road traffic fatality on our roads this year.
 
Police say the accident occurred on Palmetto Road in Pembroke around 5:45pm, just east of the junction with Bishop Spencer Road, involving two cars and a bike.

A spokesman said the motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital’s Emergency Department and one driver, a 35-year-old man — who initially left the scene — was arrested.

“He was subsequently located at a private residence on Middle Road in Devonshire, where he was arrested and taken to the Hamilton Police Station.

“One of the motorcycle riders, a male, sustained head, groin and serious leg injuries. He was transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.”

No other reported injured persons.

Traffic was diverted as Traffic Collision Investigators along with officers from the Forensic Support Unit processed the scene.

No further information will be provided until all next of kin have been informed.
