Police are today appealing to anyone who may have seen what resulted in a serious road traffic accident early this morning.

Police and other first responders responded to a report of a serious single vehicle collision on South Road near the entrance to Church Bay in Southampton.

A spokeswoman said: “Details are very limited, however, a man on a motorcycle was travelling along South Road, in an unknown direction, when it appears he lost control of the cycle.

“He was conveyed  to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious head injuries.

Traffic diversions were put in place while officers processed the scene.
