Another male motorcyclist was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Southampton last night.

Police say the accident occurred around 7:20pm on South Road near the Fairmont Southampton Hotel.

A police spokeswoman said: “Early information, suggests a male travelling in the eastbound lane on a motorcycle, collided with a taxi travelling in the opposite direction.

“The motorcycle rider has been conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of what has been described as very serious injuries.”

The driver of the taxi was not reported as injured.

Traffic diversions were put in place at Lighthouse Road and Harbour view Drive while police processed the scene.

Police are urging witnesses to contact Sergeant Blackman at the earliest opportunity.
