A 25-year-old male motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital’s Emergency Department with non-life threatening injuries after collided with a car while overtaking another vehicle on Till’s Hill in North Hamilton on Monday.
Police say the accident occurred just after 9am near the junction of Ewing Street and Till’s Hill.
“Reports are the car was headed North on Court Street, while the motorcycle was headed south on Court street, when the 25 year old male motorcycle rider attempted to overtake a taxi and collided with the car driven by a 68 year old male,” a spokesman said.
“The motorcycle rider sustained a laceration to the face as well an injured elbow.
“He was transported to King Edward the Seventh Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
“The driver of the car was not injured in the collision.
“The motorcycle was written off while the car was left with extensive damage to the front right hand side.
“Court Street, between Ewing Street and Angle Street was closed off as the Roads Policing Unit assessed the scene,” he added.
