A 45-year-old Sandys Parish man remains in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit after he was run over by a car in a two-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning.

Police say the accident occurred around 7:50am on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Seymour Farm Road.

A spokesman said: “It appears that a 45-year-old Sandys parish man riding a motorcycle east on Middle Road slid out into the path of a car being driven in the opposite direction, with the car apparently running over him.

The injured rider was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and at last check had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

The car driver, believed to be a 64-year-old Southampton man, was not hurt.”

Police diverted traffic while the scene was processed.

Witnesses who have not come forward already, are urged to call Constable John Outerbridge on the main police telephone number 295-0011 as soon as possible.
