Officers on mobile patrol arrested a 36-year-old in the City of Hamilton on Tuesday (November 26) on suspicion of causing willful damage to a pay phone on Cedar Avenue.
Police say the incident occurred around 10:50pm on Tuesday night, when the officers “came to a stop near the junction with Victoria Street, after observing a man acting suspiciously near a public pay phone”.
“The officers approached the man to find out what he was doing – only to discover that the pay phone was damaged. In addition, a crowbar was found at the location,” a spokesman said.
“The 36-year-old man, believed to be a Smith’s parish resident, was arrested on suspicion of willful damage and remains in police custody at this time pending further inquiries by the Criminal Investigation Department.”
