A 19-year-old woman, believed to be from Paget, remains in police custody tonight, after she was arrested in connection with the weekend stabbing of an 18-year-old Devonshire woman at Horseshoe Bay early Sunday morning.
A spokesman said: “The 18-year-old woman’s injuries are not life threatening and apparently the arm injury sustained by an 18 year old Devonshire man at the same location is not consistent with a stab wound.
“It is believed that he fell on some rocks in the area around the time of the stabbing incident.”
Meanwhile, the investigation continues and “detectives encourage anyone who has video footage of the stabbing to come forward”.
That video, circulated on the local social media circuit, has triggered a flurry of comments on various blogs, including residents questioning why onlookers chose to encourage the altercation to continue before anyone decided to break it up.
Another set of photographs showing the victim’s injuries are also circulating on social media.
“Any information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence,” the spokesman said.
“Witnesses or members of the public with relevant information or video footage of this incident are encouraged to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.
“Alternatively, confidential tips can be provided by calling the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477, or by visiting the Crime Stoppers Bermuda website www.crimestoppers.bm.”
