Progressive Labour Party MP for Constituency 16, Pembroke East Central and Minister of National Security, Michael Weeks donated $2,000 to benefit Boulevard Blazers Youth Programme this weekend.

The presentation was made on Saturday morning at Victor Scott School for the football club’s youth groups, which includes mentorship programmes for young people.

“I am pleased to be here this morning to spread a bit of festive cheer to a group I happily support,” said Mr Weeks.

“As we are now in the season of giving I am happy to do my part to give to a cause near and dear to me. It is no secret that I have a soft spot for our young people so I am pleased to acknowledge and support the work of a group who have my same passion.

“Today (Dec 17), I am presenting this check of $2,000 to the Boulevard Blazers Youth Programme to support their ongoing efforts to provide a positive outlet and mentorship to young people. It is well known that participation in sports, especially team activities, can have positive impact on young people.

“Although I am here today as an MP for the constituency of Pembroke East Central, supporting my constituents, when I put on my other hat as the Minister of National Security, I am constantly reminded of the need for positive activities for young people.

“When our young people are occupied in activities that interest them and pour into them, our country as a whole benefits. It is truly a blessing that I am able to make this contribution today to my community for a cause I fully believe in.”

Mr Weeks also noted that the money would go towards the purchase of football jerseys and other items needed.
