Leader of the Progressive Labour Party, Premier David Burt extended the party’s deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr Ellsworth Christopher, longtime President of the Devonshire Recreation Club, and well known footballer and cricketer, and educator in Bermuda Public Schools.

A party spokesman said: “Mr Christopher, was well known for his contributions not just to the sporting community, but to the community in general, giving wholly of himself and being an encouragement to the young people of Bermuda.

“The Devonshire Recreation Club and the Progressive Labour Party have a history together spanning decades and Mr Christopher played an integral role in this relationship over the years.

“Mr Christopher, a pillar of the Devoshire Recreation community, will be missed by all. To his wife, Kathy, daughters, Janel and Gina, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, and the Devonshire Recreation Club family, we extend our most heartfelt condolences.

“We hope that the memory of ‘Uncle Ell’ will sustain you through these difficult times, and that you will bask in the glory of knowing and being proud of the contributions he made to our island home.”
