The Progressive Labour Party (PLP) officially announced Bermuda Public Services Union President, Jason Hayward as their candidate for the upcoming bye-election in Pembroke Central.
The official announcement came today at a news conference held at the party’s Alaska Hall headquarters on Court Street in Hamilton.
The upcoming bye-election was called as a result of the death of PLP MP Walton Brown Jr, who defeated One Bermuda Alliance candidate Andrew Simons; a former OBA senator in the last General Election in July 2017.
Today’s announcement follows the leak of an internal PLP branch email that said the C17 Pembroke Central Branch selected Jamaine Smith as the preferred candidate.
As it turns out that will not be the case.
Still no official word on who will run for the OBA. Nomination Day is Thursday, November 7. C17 constituents will go to the polls on Thursday, November 21, 2019
