More escalating costs due to injuries caused by road traffic accidents were borne out in Bermuda Hospitals Board statistics released today on hospital treatment administered since January up to the end of May.

Figures show a total of 649 victims turned up at the Emergency Department.

Forty-seven patients were admitted to the hospital’s Acute Care Wing, with another six sent to the Intensive Care Unit for treatment.

Five accident victims admitted were 18-year-old or younger, four were discharged to overseas medical facilities.
