Beach Boys Limited, the operators of Tobacco Bay and a team of new partners have been signed up by the West End Development Corporation (Wedco), to take over Snorkel Park with new “world-class” beachfront facility plans announced today.
Proponents behind the plan say this new project will create more than 30 “Bermudian jobs”, with upgraded nightlife experiences and water park recreational activities at the Dockyard beach site.
The Tobacco Bay proprietors were signed on by Wedco, with a new team of partners who say they intend “to build upon the foundations laid and provide a Bermuda gold standard beach experience for residents and guests alike”.
Over a three-year phased plan, the project involves an overhaul of Snorkel Park based on safety first, accessibility, and “a welcoming sense of place”.
“At the same time, plans will be drawn up for a water park and upgraded nightlife experiences,” a spokesman added.
“We aim to create over 30-plus Bermudian jobs providing employment opportunities beginning next spring.
“Industry certified professionals, local area residents and existing staff are all encouraged to apply.”
Belcario Thomas, the Business Development Officer of Beach Boys Ltd, is also the CEO of the project.
Fellow Beach Boys colleagues Dennie O’Connor and Raymond Walker are also the Operations Director and Managing Director respectively.

The RFP was issued back in June when six groups submitted bids for the project.
“We knew the team pulled together for this RFP was solid,” the spokesman said.
“Each partner brings a positive can-do attitude, grit, determination and passion to the table. We’re confident that with a consultative and collaborative approach, Snorkel Park will become a compelling year-round attraction.”

“We are very much looking forward to see the area enhanced.”
The spokesperson added: “We have a three year phased plan to overhaul Snorkel Park. Safety, accessibility and a welcoming sense of place being our initial priorities.
“At the same time, plans will be drawn up for a waterpark and upgraded nightlife experiences.
