A new date has been set for the 18th Annual Children’s Reading Festival hosted by the Bermuda Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

The free, fun, learning event will be held this Saturday, December 2nd, at Victoria Park in the City of Hamilton from 11am to 4pm.

Chairperson of this year’s event, Ms Shawnette Smith said: “This is a signature event for Delta Siga Theta Sorority Inc in Bermuda. It is designed for children from birth to Primary 6. Attendees will participate in storytelling, literacy games, and arts and crafts. There will also be fun castles, face painting and popcorn.

“One of the important components of the day is to provide parents with access to resources about literacy. Representatives from the Department of Health Speech Therapy, The Reading Clinic, and the Youth Library will be available to answer questions.

“With the generous support of our sponsors, everything at the reading festival is free, including the book each child selects to take home. Our sponsors this year are KPMG, BAS, Spa Water, Belvin’s Variety, BGA, Dunkley’s Live My Life Promotions, and Open Your Heart Foundation,” she added.

She thanked “everyone involved in this year’s event”. “Each year we add new elements and encourage children to bring their parents to this exciting free literacy event.”
