Responding to a request for a statement by Bermuda Real, a government spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Security tonight confirmed the “release from custody of Natasha York”.
Ms York, who was incarcerated last Monday for importing medical marijuana, was released from prison on Friday night, following intervention by Ministers Michael Weeks and Wayne Caines.
On her release, the Ministry spokeswoman said: “This is consistent under Section 15 of the Prisons Act, where the Minister of National Security has the authority to effect such a release under the law.”
But “due to the sensitivity of the matter, no further comment will be provided at this time”, she added.
Ms York, who imported CBD Oil in a last ditch efforts to save her life and end more than a decade of suffering at least three to five seizures a day.
