News Release HAMILTON, Bermuda – MSA is meeting the growing demand for its Early Learning Program with new, state-of-the-art classrooms built over the summer. The Bishop Robert J Kurtz CR Early Learning Centre houses two Early Learning Program classrooms, two Kindergarten classrooms, two Grade 1 classrooms, and an atelier (Early Learning Art Studio).

“Our Early Learning Program (ELP) is open to children who turn four before December 31,” stated MSA Principal, Anna Faria-Machado. “We have had to turn people away from ELP for several years because of incredible demand, and we are excited to have a purposefully designed space to welcome more students.”

The classrooms feature tables that are conducive to collaboration and workstations for independent play. There are cozy reading nooks and common areas for class activities. Between the classrooms, an “atelier” functions as an early learning art studio.

“Art, inits many forms, plays an enormous role in the Reggio Emilia approach to learning,” stated MSA Atelierista, Tracy Wicks. “Our youngest students now have a dedicated space for their creativity to flourish.”

MSA held a small ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of the new classrooms in September. After Bishop Wieslaw M Spiewak, CR said a blessing, Chairman of the Board, Sean Kelly, cut the ribbon to officially open the new Early Learning Centre.

“We must thank Greymane Construction Management, who completed the majority of the construction for this project,” stated Mrs. Machado. “Construction started the first day of summer break and was completed in time for our students to use their new classrooms on the first day of school in September.
