A 35-year-old from the Dutch Caribbean island St Maarten, was placed on remand at Westgate Correctional Facility, pending sentencing, after he changed his plea to guilty on Monday to four counts of bank fraud.

Angelo Toussay, admitted the theft of $2,350 from HSBC and an attempt to steal a further $8,590.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of plastic cards with magnetic strips and a machine designed to make false credit cards for the purpose of stealing money in St George’s in Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The offences occurred between July 20 and 24.

Toussay, initially denied the charges when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court on July 29.

He was remanded in custody by Magistrate Maxanne Anderson for sentencing on August 16.
