A male employee sustained “injuries to his legs, arms and abdominal area” when a “trailer full of metal hollow ribs” fell on him.
A spokesman for the Bermuda Fire Rescue Service (BFRS) said the industrial accident was reported at 9:06am from Wellington Slip Road in St George’s.
Police confirmed this afternoon that the 36-year-old male “sustained lacerations to his right arm, a broken right leg and injuries to his torso”.
A spokesman said: “The BFRS responded with three appliances from Clearwater Station, two appliances from Hamilton Station and a total of 10 firefighters.
“Upon arrival, fire crews saw a male trapped under metal hollow rib. A forklift was used to remove the metal and the patient was transported top KEMH. The cause of the accident is under investigation.”
At last check a police spokesman said “he was undergoing surgery for his injuries”.
