Police Commissioner Stephen Corbishley disclosed today after two days of activity in the Curving Avenue area, that one man is in custody after police seized three guns and illegal drugs worth nearly $1 million.

Speaking at a news conference this morning, the Commissioner said several search warrants were carried out in raids that took place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Police seized a combination of cannabis, crack cocaine and other drugs.

The Commissioner also said he anticipates more arrests will be made after the guns seized are analysed for DNA.

 

One man remains in police custody tonight following a string of raids in the Curving Avenue area of Pembroke that netted nearly a million dollars worth of illegal drugs and three guns – two found at one location.

Speaking at a news conference earlier today, Police Commissioner stephen Corbishley disclosed that after two days of activity when several warrants were executed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Police seized a combination of cannabis, crack cocaine and other drugs.

The Commssioner also said he anticipates more arrests will be made after the guns seized are analysed for DNA. Ballistics tests will also be carried out to see if any of these firearms have been used in previous shootings.

“This represents the most significant firearms recovery with three firearms and just under $1 million worth of drugs being taken off Bermuda Streets,” said the Commissioner, who also noted that two of the guns were founds in the same location.

“This, however, is not a time for us to be complaent, but it just highlights the work that has to be done to make the community safer,” he added.
