Police officers conducting checks in the area of the former Prison Headquarters building on Happy Road in Devonshire around 10:30am this morning, encountered a man who barricaded himself inside the building and then hurled “unknown corrosive substance them”.
A spokesman said the man in question threw the substance at the officers when they initially tried to approach him.
“No officers were injured,” he said.
“Ambulance and Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel are also on scene as a precaution.
“Currently negotiations are underway with the man and further updates will be provided in due course.”
