A 33-year-old Hamilton Parish man has been arrested on suspicion of endangering the life of his 7-month-old son, who were both injured after falling out of a second storey window.
Police and first responders were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute between a couple at a private residence on Devon Springs Road in Devonshire around 8:30pm on Sunday.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes, both the father and son were subsequently transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, where they remain. The child’s mother was not injured.
A 42-year-old Smith’s man, reportedly a relative of the child’s mother, who intervened in the dispute was initially arrested, but has since been released. The father who was arrested, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
A full investigation is now underway with detectives working closely with Child & Family Services. Witnesses and anyone with information who have not already come forward is urged to contact police on 247-1744.
No word yet on the child’s condition.
