A man whose country of origin remains unknown was remanded in custody by Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe on Friday, to face a Supreme Court judge and jury on charges of theft from a local bank and an attempt to steal a further $74,000.
Tuan Nguyen, 34, was charged with the theft of $6,080 from Clarien Bank and an attempt to steal a further $74,907 between June 22 and July 2.
He was also charged with attempting to steal an unknown amount of money from HSBC on June 22.
The defendant was not required to enter a plea to the indictable offences allegedly carried out through fraudulent gift cards.
Senior Magistrate remanded the accused in custody. A bail hearing was set down for July 12 before he is due to appear in Supreme Court for the monthly arraignment session in August.
