A 25-year-old man was arrested after police seized drugs and ammunition at a home in Southampton that netted heroin, cannabis, cannabis resin and 20 rounds of ammunition.

A police spokesman did not reveal the quantity of the drugs seized, but he said the amounts “suggest they were meant for supply”.

The man arrested is expected to appear in Magistrates’ Court, he added.

The raid was the result of a joint investigation by police from both the Serious Crime and Drugs Units, with HM Customs and local courier companies from June to October of this year.

Suspicious packages were examined, which were later alleged to have contained parts of firearms.

A suspect has already been charged in connection with this case.

Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, head the police Crime Division, said: “If you know about the importation of guns into Bermuda, say something.

“Our detectives are here and willing to listen and take action against people who make our community less safe.”
