A 24-year-old Sandys Parish man was today formally charged with possessing a gun and ammunition, in addition to other offences.

Jomari Gooden was arrested by police on Middle Road in Sandys during the early morning hours on Saturday.

He was subsequently charged with possession of a Glock 17 gun without holding a licence, and being in possession of ten rounds of ammunition without holding a licence, contrary to section 3(1a) of the Firearms Act.

Mr Gooden was further charged with another three counts of possessing a pocket folding knife with a blade that exceeded three inches, assaulting a police officer, and violently resisting arrest.

He was not to enter a plea due to the indictable offences, which will be heard in the Supreme Court.

Senior Magistrate Maxanne Anderson rejected his request for bail by lawyer Marc Daniels and remanded the defendant in custody, with orders to appear at the next arraignments session on November 1.
