A 17-year-old male teenager, who was found lying in the street following a road traffic accident in St David’s was rushed to the hospital’s Emergency Department last night with a serious neck injury.

Police say the accident occurred on Southside Road, when “the rider lost control of the bike and struck the median causing him to fall to the ground”.

He was found lying on the median west of Lower Gates Road Roundabout.

A police spokesman said: “The motorcycle was reported to have been travelling east along Southside Road when the rider lost control of the bike and struck the median causing him to fall to the ground,” the spokesman said.

“Officers later attended KEMH and were informed the rider had sustained a serious neck injury.”

The area was closed to traffic for just over three hours while officers from the forensic support unit and a traffic collision investigator processed the scene.
