A 17-year-old local male teenager is today listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit after the jet ski he was riding “struck the stern anchor of a moored yacht” near Robinson’s Marina next to Somerset Bridge.
Police say the incident occurred around 6pm on Tuesday (August 6).
A spokesman said: “Apparently the injured teen was rescued and brought ashore by the yacht’s captain before being transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
“At last check earlier (August 7) he was listed in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
“The Jet Ski involved was damaged. However, there was no reported damage to the yacht,” he added.
“Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to call Constable Joshua Boden at the Marine Unit on 247-1770 at the earliest opportunity.”
