Three days after a 58-year-old male pedal cyclist who sustained a serious head injury in a road traffic accident remains listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Police say the accident occurred around 6p on Sunday, October 17, on Middle Road in Flatts Village, when the guest worker, who was “riding in an easterly direction on Middle Road near the Whitney Institute” reportedly “veered into the opposite lane and collided with a car travelling west”.

A spokesman said: “The female motorcar driver was not hurt in the collision.”

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old female motorcylist – also a guest worker, who sustained a serious head injury in a road traffic accident four days ago, is now on a general ward.

Police say the accident occurred around 11:20pm on Saturday, October 16, just east of Bethel AME Church on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish near Studio Lane.

A spokesman said: “Early indications are the motorcycle rider, a guest worker, was struck by the car which was traveling in an easterly direction along North Shore Road.

“The motorcar driver, a 26-year-old male and his 25-year-old female companion were unhurt in the collision.”

The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired.
