Jamaica Observer: ST JAMES – Veteran reggae singer Freddie McGregor received the Red Stripe Living Legend award during festival night two of Reggae Sumfest 2023.

The singer, who suffered a stroke eight months ago, was awarded after delivering an emotional performance at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre on Sunday morning.

Dubbed ‘Captain of the Big Ship’, McGregor did a 30-minute set seated, with his sons Stephen ‘Di Genius’ and Chino doing backing vocals on either side of him.

McGregor appeared appreciative of the support received from Red Stripe and supportive patrons of the festival.
