Former United Bermuda Party (UBP) senator, lawyer and businessman, James Llwellyn ‘Llew’ Peniston has died at the age of 74.

The former shipping agent who worked with John S Darrell before branching out on his own in 1986; after becoming a partner, was appointed to the Senate in 1980 by former Premier, the late Sir David Gibbons.

He served in the Upper House under the UBP until 1987.

Mr Peniston attended the University of Buckingham and London Metropolitan University, to qualify as a lawyer.

He is survived by his wife, Ave Maria De’ Agrella-Peniston and two sons, Llewellyn Peniston Jr and Alex Peniston.
