One Bermuda Alliance Chairman Justin Mathias confirmed his resignation as party Chairman on Fresh TV this morning, as the fallout continues in the wake of the appointment of Craig Cannonier as Opposition Leader.

Speaking live on the morning show, Mr Mathias said word of his resignation on social media was true.

“That is why I had a final open and honest conversation with you because I knew I was going to leave,” he said.

While the party has yet to comment, Mr Mathias confirmed his resignation live on Fresh TV just before 9am this morning.

Word of his departure surfaced on Monday, the same day Craig Cannonier was sworn in as the new Opposition Leader.

Mr Mathias became party chairman in July, after he was appointed as a senator and ran for the OBA in the June by-election in Warwick North, when he lost to the Progressive Labour Party’s candidate Curtis Dickinson.
