Jubilant supporters turned out in full force today to welcome and congratulate Bermuda’s Special Olympians who competed in the Special Olympics 2019 held in Abu Dhabi.
On hand to greet the team when the motorcade arrived at the Cabinet Building earlier today was Premier David Burt and a host of Members of Parliament, who joined relatives and friends for the special occasion.
The triumphant athletes, organisers, coaches, friends and family gathered to hear congratulatory remarks and have photos taken. After the welcome ceremony the Premier hosted a reception for the athletes and their families as well as presented the entire team with certificates of appreciation.
In his remarks on the team’s arrival, Premier Burt commended Team Bermuda on their performance and welcomed them back home.
“What an amazing caliber of athletes we have,” said Mr Burt.
“Today we celebrate your achievements at the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019–you have all made Bermuda extremely proud.
