Potential students will be given a chance to win one of four $2,500 tuition awards during a virtual open house at the University of the West Indies (UWI) to be held next Thursday.

Minister of Education, Diallo Rabain, told MPs on Friday that the session would give potential students the chance to learn about distance learning at the UWI, as well as attending in person.

He also said plans are underway to implement an agreement to transfer credits earned at Bermuda College to a UWI degree programme.

“We understand that going to university can be a large financial commitment, however the Bermuda Government is dedicated to fostering opportunities that allow our students to pursue their educational goals,” said Mr Rabain.

“With that in mind, we strongly encourage more Bermudians to take advantage of the preferred tuition pricing available through our relationship with the UWI so that they can follow their dreams and positively contribute to our island home.”

The event will be held on Thursday from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Participants will be entered into a draw for the tuition awards, redeemable when they enrol in the UWI’s open campus distance learning programme.
