Sending a special shout out to one of my favourite Health Department employees, who I see on the regular on my Boaz Island walking route!
She’s back this week, starting up west again outside Woody’s Drive Inn next Friday, June 22, 2018, when the Department of Health re-launches their ‘Taking It To The Streets’ FREE health checks, from 4pm to 7:30pm.
And as you know the campaign moves eastward, throughout the summer, moving on to Southampton, Hamilton and finishes up in St George’s later this year.
So, as of this Friday, June 22, 2018, Community Health Nurses will be on hand offering free screenings to identify PERSONS AT RISK of CHRONIC NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES!
In a ‘Not So Well’ Bermuda, we know we’re on the high end and over the tipping scale with preventable diseases in this country, that essentially is killing us in epidemic proportions, when it comes to diabetes and obesity, Bermuda’s high rate of strokes and heart disease, not to mention the countless lives afflicted by cancer.
We’ll update you on the facts as the health screenings progress. But we already know from the numbers recorded last year, that there were quite a few people sent straight to the hospital for treatment because they were walking around with high blood pressure as high risk stroke material.
Make a note for a friendly reminder to pop by at one of these FREE health screenings this year – PLEASE!
Ps… Your HEALTH is Your RESPONSIBILITY & Yours ALONE!
Pss… Thanks for the FLYER Debrina Simons, catching me on my walk riding your motorcycle looking like all that! LOL! Keep Doing What You Do Boo!
