Police officers from the Serious Crime Unit have yet another gun murder investigation on their hands, after a man shot on Ord Road in Warwick last night succumbed to his injuries.
The victim, who was 37-years-old, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
A spokesman said no further information on the identity of the victim will be provided until all next of kin have been notified.
In a live update just before midnight with TNN, Detective Sergeant Jason Smith said police received several 911 calls reporting multiple gunshots in the area of Ord Road near the Ord Road Laundromat.
“Upon the arrival of the officers, a man was found to have been shot and the officers began life saving measures to save his life,” he said.
“Just recently, I have received an update that unfortunately he has succumbed to his injuries. So we are now treating this as a murder investigation. It is underway and we have officers from the Serious Crime Unit that are conducting these inquiries.
“We would like to appeal to those members of the public who were here at the time of the shooting to make contact with us.
“You can make contact with me on 441 717-0864 so that we can expedite this matter and make some fast track actions in our inquiries.”
Asked whether this latest shooting was gang related, he said it was still too early to speak to that.
Police say the incident occurred around 10:30pm Tuesday night (April 6).
